Lynden Christian senior Jeremiah Wright pulls up for a 15-foot jumper against Seton Catholic.
  • Lynden Christian 71, Seton Catholic 39

The Lyncs got off to a hot start and led 11-0 just minutes into the contest, but the Cougars showed their strength and finished the first quarter on a 13-5 run.

It was a role-reversal in the second as Seton Catholic started out hot, but Lynden Christian’s defense picked up, and it was able to fuel the offense for the rest of the contest.

The two-time defending state champions relied on what has made them a great team the entire season; great defense and extreme accuracy on outside shots.

Senior guard Dawson Bouma connected on 5-of-9 from beyond the arc led the way with 17 points, while also picking up six rebounds and six assists. Junior guard Gannon Dykstra racked up 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals while senior forward Jeremiah Wright added 13 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Junior sharpshooter Luke Van Kooten came off the bench to score 11 points, nine of which came on three-point shots.

The Lyncs advanced to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament in Yakima and will face the winner of Wednesday’s game between King’s and Tenino.
