After the Mariners won the first two sets, it looked like it might be an 0-2 start to the season for the Golden Eagles, but they were able to stay the course, and after winning the next two sets, they were able to complete the reverse sweep after senior setter Brooklyn Larrabee snuck a kill over the net to end the night.

Although Larrabee finished with 45 assists, she picked her moments to dump the ball over the net eight times, mostly when her team needed it the most. She also finished with 15 digs in the marathon match.

Another player that made a ton of plays in the front court and the back court was senior Svetlana Baydak who finished with 22 kills and 21 digs to go along with two aces.

Senior Teia Dube made numerous athletic plays which notched her 13 kills, eight digs and two aces, while Adelle Overson added nine kills and 3.5 blocks. Veronika Melnyk finished with 13 digs and Carly Garner served up four aces.

The Mariners were led by senior Paige Flory who continuously flew through the air for 20 kills and 19 digs, both of which led Sehome.

Junior setter Taylor Turrell finished with 30 assists and nine digs, and Radler Rosellison added nine kills and 13 digs.

The Sehome defense was led by Jackie Hurley who totaled 16 digs and Brooklyn Flamer who had four blocks at the net.

 

LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 3, BURLINGTON-EDISON 0

Just days after a tough loss at home to Lynden, the Lyncs rallied to go on the road and defeat the Tigers in straight sets.

It was a strong night at the net for senior Jocelyn Eshuis who led her team with 11 kills and 2.5 blocks.

Junior Tyra Dykstra had a tea-high nine digs, and she also joined Ellie Pierce and Jess DeJong, all of whom finished with six kills.

It was also a strong serving night for Lynden Christian as Lyla Parriera had five aces, Dykstra had four and Taya Vander Kooi finished with three, while Lexy Bendixen had a team-high 14 assists.

 

NOOKSACK VALLEY 3, ANACORTES 0

The Pioneers kept their young season unblemished as they went on the road to defeat the Seahawks 25-16, 25-9 and 25-16.

The timing and power of senior Elizabeth DeLange proved to be too much as she ended her night with 19 kills to lead the offensive attack.

Allie Reynolds added 10 kills, as they were guided by Finley Mitchell who tossed up 30 assists. Mitchell also led her team with five digs and three aces.

Raegan Burke had four kills, and Natileah Harmon led Nooksack Valley with two blocks.

 

LYNDEN 3, MERIDIAN 0

The returning 2A State Player of the Year, Finley Parcher, was back at it again on Tuesday night. This time at home as her 21 kills led the way in Lynden’s 25-12, 25-15 and 25-19 wins over the Trojans.

The Lions were also helped defensively by junior Hadley Lamp who led her team with 11 digs, as well as juniors Olivia Stuart and Brooke McDonald who each had a pair of blocks.

Junior setter Izzie Stephan guided the offense to the tune of 30 assists.

The Trojans were led by junior Melanie Short who finished with 12 kills and six digs.

Senior Eden Bernardy neared a double-double with nine kills and nine digs, while Anna Nichols finished with 17 assists, and Molly Collins had a pair of aces.

 

MOUNT VERNON 3, SQUALICUM 2

In this back and forth match, the Bulldogs opened up with a 25-21 win at home, and the Storm came back to win the second set 25-23. The pendulum continued to swing as Mount Vernon won 25-15 in the third, and Squalicum won 25-17 in the fourth. The Bulldogs just squeaked out the victory 16-14 in the fifth set to take the match.

The superb defense of senior Bronwyn Jones, who led with 18 digs, kept the Storm alive the entire evening.

Senior setter Alyssa Roselli handed out 34 assists, with her top recipient being freshman Lola Froese who led with 11 kills. She also finished with 10 digs and a team-high five aces.

Lola Copenhaver added eight kills, and she was closely followed by Avery Kettman and Penelope Durias who each had seven kills.

The defense up front was led by Kettman who finished with four blocks, and Tiana Thompson who added three stuffs.
