It was a back-and-forth battle in the quarterfinal round of the 2A state tournament as the Buccaneers came out and scored a pair of run in the top of third, but it was quickly answered in the bottom of the first by the Lions when Charlotte Somma doubled to the wall in left-center field, which scored the speedy Jami Huerta from first base. That was followed up by a 2-run homerun off the bat of Lydia Somma to dead center field, which gave Lynden an early 3-2 lead. Kingston tied it up at 3-3 in the top of the second and remained tied until the bottom of the third when a line shot double by Kyleigh McVie scored Jazz Terpstra and the Lions were up 4-3. The Buccaneers took the lead right back in the following inning on a deep two-run homerun, but a bases loaded walk by Callie Ramerman brought home Kasey DeJong and an error in the infield allowed Sarah McVie to score during the next at bat. The Lions held the 6-5 lead until the top of the sixth when Kingston singled in another run to tie it up, but Lynden enjoyed a huge bottom of the sixth as Ramerman doubled in two runs, and Charlotte Somma followed it up with a homerun to left field to give Lynden the four-run lead late with an inning left in the game. Ramerman closed out her second complete game in the circle on the day, and the Lions will move on to the semifinals for the first time since 2014.
