Squalicum 7, Lakewood 0
It took 20 minutes for the first goal to take place, which was lofted in by freshman Cole Oswalt, and less than two minutes later it was sophomore Drew Swanson who scored the second goal on a header which was assisted by senior an Isaac Grimes free kick from 40 yards away. The score remained 2-0 until the half, but junior Maddox Strickland went on a scoring spree in the second half when he scored three goals. The Storm also received second half goals from Oswalt, his second of the game, and Crew Johnson. The win sends Squalicum to the 2A district championship game against Lynden at 7:00 on Thursday at Civic Stadium, as well as an automatic berth in the state playoffs.
Lynden 1, Sehome 0
It was a physical matchup in which the Lions just outlasted the Mariners as the lone goal came from senior Eddie Briseno. The win will send Lynden to the 2A state tournament for the first time since 2011 when they won it all. The Lions will take on Squalicum at 7:00 on Thursday at Civic Stadium for the district championship. Sehome is still alive in the tournament, and will face Archbishop Murphy in a loser-out contest at 7:00 on Tuesday at Civic Stadium.
Bellingham 3, Marysville-Pilchuck 0
The Bayhawks kept their season alive with the clean sheet victory over the Tomahawks. Sophomore Nathaniel Wilson led the way with a pair of goals, and he was joined in the scoring column by junior Finley Milsten. Bellingham will take on Lakewood in another loser-out game at 5:00 on Tuesday at Civic Stadium.
Meridian 5, Nooksack Valley 0
The Trojans looked every bit of the top seed as goals from seniors Sagar Virk and Omar Abdo put them in front in the first half. Meridian continued to spread the wealth in the second half as it received goals from seniors Eli Hays and Skyler Rowe before Virk’s second goal of the game was the icing on the cake. The Trojans will face Lynden Christian at 7:00 on Wednesday at Blaine High School for the 1A district championship, and the Pioneers will try to keep their season alive at 4:30 on Wednesday when they take on the Borderites at Blaine High school in a loser-out contest.
Lynden Christian 1, Blaine 0
After no goals were scored in regulation time, a winner needed to be decided with penalty kicks. Both teams made their first two, but Blaine’s third attempt sailed over the goal, and the Lyncs kept making their shots. The PK’s were then tied at four each, with one kick left, and it was up to Lynden Christian sophomore Jackson Yun. When his kick found the back of the net, it solidified the Lyncs moving on to the district championship game against Meridian, which will take place at 7:00 on Wednesday at Blaine High School. The Borderites will face Nooksack Valley at 4:30 on Wednesday at Blaine High School in a loser-out match.
