The Mariners got on the Trojans early when Hudson Neff singled to left field, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a single off the bat of Gunnar Tweit, who eventually scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. It was pretty clean baseball after that as both team’s aces pitched remarkably. Neff allowed just three hits and walked one in the complete game shutout win in just 79 pitches. Junior Nate Payne went the distance and struck out 10 batters for Meridian.

Lynden Christian 7, Ferndale 4

The Golden Eagles made it extremely tough for the Lyncs to keep their undefeated season alive as Ferndale scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead going into the final inning. After the first batter flew out in the top of the seventh, Ferndale walked three Lynden Christian batters to loaded the bases, and Vance Elton nearly cleared them with a 2-run double which gave the lead back to the Lyncs. LC senior Sam Kok finished off his complete game in the bottom of the inning to get his third win of the season, and he ended with nine strikeouts. Golden Eagle senior Nolan Boleak went six innings and struck out nine batters, but hit the pitch-count limit and was unable to finish the game.

The Bayhawks scored five runs over the first four innings behind a balanced offensive attack, as well as the strong pitching of junior Ben Leonard who struck out five batters over five innings and allowed just one hit. Bellingham got a pair of hits from Joe Harward, Eli Goodbuffalo, Jasper Love and Tobias Lamb, and Harward also scored three runs and struck out four batters in two innings of relief. Jamison Randolph took the loss for the Pioneers, but still struck out four batters over five innings.

The Lions pounced on the Borderites in the top of the first by scoring five runs, and they never looked back after that. Seniors Dane Marti and Spencer Adams each led the way offensively for Lynden as Marti got three hits, and Adams drove in three runs. Junior shortstop Gordy Bedlington also scored three runs for the Lions. Senior Matthew Carroll struck out seven batters over five innings to pick up his third win of the season. Blaine senior Kai Kerwin was able to strike out four batters in his relief appearance on the mound.

The Storm dropped their fourth game in a row, as the Cubs methodically scored in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth inning. Southpaw Cameron Schmitt struck out six batters in his first start of the year on the mound, and the lone Squalicum hits came from Henry Ingersoll and Rylan Prince.

Burlington-Edison 7, Mount Baker 0

Senior catcher Kamden Moa had two hits and stole a base, and sophomore pitcher Tyson Barksdale struck out nine batters and walked only two on the mound, but the Mountaineers were still unable to pick up their first win of the season.
