PUYALLUP – After a close first quarter, Cascade Christian ran wild in the second quarter on its way to a 31-20 win over the Trojans at Sunset Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday night.
The Cougars led 10-0 early on, but a pair of touchdown passes by senior quarterback Trey Alexander gave Meridian a 14-10 lead early in the second quarter.

And, that’s where the Cougars took over. In fact they ran the ball for 174 yards and three touchdowns in the second quarter alone, and the Trojans quickly found themselves down 31-14 at the break.
Although Meridian held Cascade Christian off the scoreboard in the entire second half, coming back would prove difficult. The Trojans did score in the fourth quarter when Alexander his sophomore wide receiver Braydon Fisher for a 10-yard touchdown strike.
Fisher and senior Kasey Brennan caught the early touchdowns from Alexander, who finished with 261 yards on 17-of-31 passing and no interceptions.
Alexander also finished with the most stops on defense, with seven, and senior defensive tackle Sawyer Strunk finished with two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Meridian (0-2) will host Colville (1-1) on Saturday at 1:00.
