MARYSVILLE – The Bayhawks got their starting quarterback back, and with that also came their offensive groove, as Ben Leonard led Bellingham to a 40-6 win over Marysville-Pilchuck at Quil Ceda Stadium on Friday night.

The senior quarterback tossed four touchdown passes, with three of them in the first half. His first two went to senior wide receiver Matthew Steel who finished with 10 receptions for 132 yards.
His third scoring pass was a quick shot over the middle to senior tight end Calvin VanHofwegen, which gave the Bayhawks a 20-0 lead at the half.
Also starring all night was the Bellingham defense, with junior outside linebacker Julius Sefried leading the way with 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. VanHofwegen also had two stops behind the line of scrimmage, and he also had an interception with set up his own touchdown scoring drive.
The Bayhawks also allowed just 70 yards on 32 plays, before giving way to the backups.
The run game also was a spark for the Bellingham offense, as junior MJ Maina ran off left tackle for a 21-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Leonard and Steel hooked up for their third touchdown of the game late in the third quarter. It was also their eighth time combining for a touchdown this season.
Leonard finished the game with 205 yards on 19-of-24 passing.
The Tomahawks scored on a long rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, but Bellingham was able to retaliate with numerous backups on the field.
Nick Leonard came in at quarterback, and he hit all four of his pass attempts on the final drive for 33 yards. That, coupled with strong running from Camden Chartier and Tyson Miller, and Bellingham was able to post one more touchdown on the board when Miller scored from a yard out.
The Bayhawks (2-3) will host Sehome (1-4) at 7:00 on Friday at Civic Stadium.
