Meridian senior Dylan Hickok gets a base hit against Bellingham

Meridian 8, Bellingham 1

Madrigal
Hickok

On March 12th of this year, the Trojans beat the Red Raiders in a close 5-4 game. Friday’s game was also close for the first four innings, but Meridian got hot in the next few innings to claim the victory. Junior Art Madrigal did a little bit of everything for the Trojans. He gave up just two hits and picked up the win on the mound, and he also got three hits, and scored three times at the plate. Sophomore clean-up hitter Ethan Brooks knocked in two runs, including one on a perfectly placed bunt. Seniors Brayden Zender and Dylan Hickok each collected two hits for Meridian. Landon Kerzman and Nick Posey got hits for Bellingham. The Trojans (6-8) will host Squalicum (5-9) on Monday, and the Red Raiders (1-12) will travel to Nooksack Valley (2-12) to take on the Pioneers on Monday.

Squalicum 10, Mount Baker 0

Sage
Carlson

The Mountaineers have been known this year to get a lot of hits, and walk a lot. They hadn’t matched up against Squalicum senior Mitchell Sage. The Storm right-hander was brilliant, throwing 70% of his pitches for strikes as he shout the Mounties out, while giving up just four hits and not allowing a walk. Other than his hiccup at Blaine, Sage has been a strike-throwing machine, and his offense did its part as well. Fellow seniors August Williams and Tate Carlson each picked up a pair of hits, as well as extra base hits for Squalicum, with Carlson and Lukas Nickelson each knocking in two runs. Mount Baker senior Kaleb Bass picked up three of his team’s four hits. The Storm (5-9) will host Lynden Christian (4-9) tonight, and the Mountaineers (5-9) will host Sehome (9-6) on Monday.

The Pioneers got off to a great start when junior Easton Zylstra blasted a 2-run homerun to left field, but the Golden Eagles answered back with two in the first and three in the second. Sophomore pitcher Kobe Sandstrom settled in after the initial inning, and pitched the complete game. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate, scored twice and also walked twice. Junior catcher continued his hot hitting by getting two more base hits. Nooksack Valley senior Jacob Roosma led his team with three hits. Ferndale (9-5) will travel to Sedro Woolley (12-2) on Monday, and the Pioneers (2-12) will host Bellingham (1-12) on Monday.

Lynden 11, Sedro Woolley 4

Parcher
Kleindel

The Cubs came into this game with an unblemished mark in conference play. A big bottom of the fourth took care of that. Much like the seventh inning last week against the Lyncs, the Lions had another big inning by scoring 10 runs to lead Lynden to victory. Patient approaches at the plate led to eight walks and eight hits for Lynden, and junior Tanner Hope picked up his third victory of the season. Senior catcher Carter Parcher had two hits for Lynden, while he, Ben Libolt, James Marsh and Preston King all knocked in two runs. The Lions (9-3) will travel to Burlington-Edison (9-3) on Monday.

Sehome 12, Lakewood 3

Seaholm
Miksovsky

The Mariner bats came alive, and they were led by leadoff hitter Trevor Seaholm. He went 3-for-3, including a double. He also scored three runs, stole four bases and knocked in three more. The rest of the lineup evenly distributed a powerful performance, and it rode the great pitching performance of Patrick Miksovsky. A few defensive miscues in the sixth inning allowed the Cougars to get on the board a few times, but Sehome was able to shore up the defense by the end of the game. The Mariners were also very aggressive on the base paths, stealing nine bases. Sehome (9-6) will travel to Mount Baker (5-9) on Monday.
