The Lions kicked off the 2A district tournament in a big way, by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning before taking the win over the Tomahawks. Freshman Macie Bonsen got the start in the circle and she struck out nine batters and allowed just one hit in the complete game shutout. Junior leadoff hitter Sarah McVie led the offensive attack with two hits, two runs batted in, three stolen bases and two runs scored.

In the first round of the 2A district tournament, the Mariners got on the board in the top of the third inning when a single off the bat of freshman shortstop Marian Anderson scored sophomore Jenna Lind. The Seahawks had scored five runs to that point, and tacked on another 13 before sending Sehome to the consolation round. The Mariners also got a single from senior Jordan Walker and a double from senior Jacinta Lewis. Sehome will try to keep its season alive this afternoon when it takes on Archbishop Murphy at 4:00 at Bender Fields in Lynden.

The Lions scored in each of the first five innings as they methodically defeated the Wildcats in the semifinals of the 2A district playoffs, which gave them a state playoff berth as well as a spot in the district championship game. Junior third baseman Kyleigh McVie belted a homerun in the second inning, which gave Lynden a 2-0 lead, and the Lions were able to tack on more runs every inning. Junior pitcher Callie Ramerman was masterful once again as she struck out 15 batters in her complete game win. Sophomore catcher Charlotte Somma had two singles and a double, while freshman Macie Bonsen ended with a pair of doubles. Lynden will face Burlington-Edison tonight at 6:00 for the district championship at Bender Fields in Lynden.
