Seahawks Air It Out Against Sehome

ANACORTES – The Mariners brought the pressure, and Anacortes answered it with its senior All-State quarterback Ryan Harrington who threw for a state-record 704 yards and 10 touchdowns in the 68-20 Seahawks win over Sehome on Friday night.

Harrington’s first four touchdown passes came in the first quarter, and Sehome also got on the board in the opening quarter as junior quarterback Jad Geiger hit senior wide receiver Gunnar Anderson on a deep ball that resulted in a 52-yard touchdown pass.

Harrington answered with a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter, and as the first half was winding down, senior kicker Bane Mitchell booted a 45-yard field goal to make the score 42-10 at the half.

Geiger and Anderson hooked up again on a 54-yard touchdown pass to begin the third quarter, and it was answered by Harrington’s seventh touchdown pass.

Mitchell then made his second field goal of the game, this time from 33 yards out, but that would be the final scoring play for the Mariners as Harrington tossed a trio of touchdown passes to complete his record-setting performance.

Anderson finished with 181 yards receiving on eight receptions, and sophomore Oliver Johnson led the Mariner defense with nine tackles including a tackle for loss.

Sehome (2-6) will host Burlington-Edison (5-3) at 5:00 this Thursday at Civic Stadium.
