Nooksack Valley senior Gracie Rutgers crushed this pitch to the right-center field wall for a double in the first inning against Lakewood.

The bats stayed hot at home for the Pioneers who rattled off 11 runs in the first two innings. Sophomore catcher Natileah Harmon went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in, two runs scored and a stolen base to lead Nooksack Valley offensively. Senior Kestyn Wagter drove in four runs, and senior Payton Bartl reached base four times. Bartl also combined with Maleah Loreen and Alayna VanIeperen on the 1-hit shutout.

Junior pitcher Callie Ramerman twirled a gem as she tossed a no-hitter against the Mariners which included 13 strikeouts and just two walks. She was also given plenty of offense, with the power provided by Charlotte Somma and Almira Hodgins who each hit their first varsity career homerun. Somma also tripled and drove in three runs, while Kyleigh McVie slugged three hits and Campbell DeJong knocked in three runs. Sehome senior pitcher Sarah Kruzich struck out nine batters in her four innings of work.

The Lyncs entered the top of the seventh inning down 5-1, and were able to score two runs when Taya Vander Kooi singled and was followed up by a homerun from Roxanne Lenning, but that would be where the rally ended as Lynden Christian fell on the road. Vander Kooi finished with three of her team’s eight hits, including a double. Lenning struck out seven batters in the complete game effort.

The Lyncs held an early 7-1 lead over the 1A power Bulldogs, but the power came to play later in the game as they pounded five doubles and three homeruns to methodically come back and get the win. Roxanne Lenning blasted her second home run of the day and drove in three runs, and catcher Sloane Hansen scored twice for the Lyncs. Ariana DeBoer got the start at third base and responded with a double, and Taya VanderKooi led Lynden Christian with two hits.
