Squalicum 6, Hockinson 1
The Storm rolled on through Civic Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Maddox Strickland scored a pair of goals to help lead Squalicum past the Hawks, and into the semifinals of the state tournament. The Storm also got an early goal from Issac Grimes as well as goals from Crew Johnson, Cody McCaulley and Olivar Hoglin. Squalicum will face Columbia River at 1:00 on Friday at Federal Way Memorial Stadium for a chance to play for the state championship.
Sehome 3, Fife 2
The Mariners continued their season with another tight win in the state tournament. After being down 1-0 early, Mason Ivcevic connected on a penalty kick to tie the game up before the half. Ivcevic converted on another penalty kick in the second half, but a late Trojan goal sent the game into extra time. After no goals were scored, it went to penalty kicks, and Bane Mitchell once again had two saves during PK’s, making it the third time this post season where he has done that. Alec Langholz had the clinching penalty kick to send Sehome into the semifinals where it will face top-ranked Bainbridge at 3:00 on Friday afternoon at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.
Columbia River 2, Lynden 0
The season for the Lions came to and end on Saturday afternoon as they dropped the quarterfinal matchup on the road against the Rapids.
Meridian 4, Cashmere 0
The Trojans were looking for another upset on the road, and they continued to ride their hot streak as Omar Abdo kicked off the scoring early in the first half with a short, quick-footed goal. It was followed up on a brilliantly placed free kick by Eli Hays which found the back of the net from almost 40 yards out, and Meridian led 2-0 at the break. Skyler Rowe scored on a sharp-angled goal in the second half, and the final goal came when goalkeeper Luke Kulhanek dropkicked the ball the full length of the field, and it nearly bounced into the other goal, and was quickly tapped in by Rowe. With the win, the Trojans have reached the semifinals of the state tournament for the first time in school history. They will take on Wahluke at 7:00 on Friday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium for a chance to play for the state championship.
