In the opening round game of the 1A District Playoffs, the Pioneers scored early and often as they ended the season for the Mountaineers. Junior midfielder Chris Moncada-Castillo recorded a hat trick early in the first half, and his teammates took over from there. He now has 13 goals on the season, the second most in Whatcom County this year. Junior Jaden Jones added a pair of goals while sophomores Arien Anker, Adrian Chavez and Aldo Figueroa each scored a goal. Nooksack Valley moves on in the tournament and will face top-seeded Meridian at 1:30 on Saturday at Blaine High School.
