Sehome 1, Ferndale 0

In a masterful performance by two tremendous senior pitchers, Sehome’s Hudson Neff just edged out Ferndale’s Fenton Vasak as the Mariners picked up the huge home win, and have now won six of their last seven games. The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth when junior designated hitter Eljas Lara drew a one-out walk and advanced to third base on a single from Tyson Goodman. Neff then came up to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to center field which scored Lara from third base. On the mound, Neff allowed six hits and struck out three in his shutout victory. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Brayden Ebbesen who had a pair of hits. Vasak struck out five batters in his complete game effort.

Lynden Christian 5, Sedro-Woolley 4

The Cubs scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, but the Lyncs were able to tie it up at 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning when Sam Kok led off the inning with a single, and eventually scored while Sedro-Woolley was turning a double-play. Kok then drew a one-out walk in the top of the seventh inning and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Trey Johnson. The Cubs rallied in the bottom of the seventh, and had the tying-run 90 feet away, but he was eventually picked off by catcher Levi Lagried for the final out of the game.

W: Johnson (2-0)

LC: Engels 1-4, SB; Kok 1-3, 2 R, BB, 2 SB; Stamps 1-4; Johnson 1-2, RBI, R, 2 BB; Elton 1-3, R.

Blaine 1, Bellingham 0

The Borderites picked up the home win over the Bayhawks, and they did it in one of the most unusual ways… without picking up a single hit. Bellingham’s Tobias Lamb and Kai Nelson combined on a no-hitter, but Blaine was allowed to score in the bottom of the third after two outs when two batters were hit by a pitch, and the next two batters drew walks. Borderite junior Josh Cochran picked up his third win of the season as he struck out nine batters in a dominant one-hit shutout. Bayhawk senior Joe Harward led off the game with a line drive single up the middle, and it remained as the only hit in the entire game.

W: Cochran (3-2)

L: Lamb (0-1)

BEL: Harward 1-3, SB.

Burlington-Edison 4, Lynden 2

Lynden’s two runs came in the first and seventh innings when Spencer Adams knocked in Gordy Bedlington. In the first inning, Bedlington got on base after a walk, stole second, advanced to third off on a groundout, and came home on a single from Adams. In the seventh, Bedlington hit a double before racing home on another single off Adams’ bat. Senior pitcher Gavin Guttormson struck out four batters over his six innings of work on the mound.

L: Guttormson (3-3)

LYN: Bedlington 2-3, 2B, 2 R, BB, SB; Adams 2-4, 2 RBI; Carroll 1-3; VanDalen 1-3, SB.

Lakewood 2, Squalicum 1

It was the Storm’s second one-run loss in as many days, but this one lasted 10 innings as the Cougars got the walk-off win at home. Senior lefty Cameron Schmitt pitched brilliantly as he went eight innings, struck out nine while allowing just two hits, one walk and one run. Squalicum’s lone run came on the top of the fourth inning when junior Hudson Johnson led off with a double, and he was eventually brought home with a sacrifice bunt from Ty York. Johnson’s double was the lone hit for the Storm.

L: Peterson (0-2)

SQU: Johnson 1-4, 2B, R.

Anacortes 10, Nooksack Valley 5

The Pioneers rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but that was where the magic ended as they fell at home to the Seahawks. Junior third baseman Trevek McMillen drove in a pair of runs, and Ethan Lind struck out six batters in his 4 and 1/3 innings in relief on the mound.

L: Randolph (0-3)

NV: Randolph 1-3, R, BB; McMillen 1-3, 2 RBI.

Oak Harbor 7, Mount Baker 0

The Wildcats proved to be too much for the Mountaineers who suffered the road loss. Mount Baker got base hits from Tyson Barksdale, Zyan Paglia and Toga Tigilau, but wasn’t able to push across any runs. Kamden Moa struck out five batters in his five innings on the mound, and Henry Brown didn’t allow a hit in his relief appearance.

L: Moa (0-7)

MB: Barskdale 1-3; Paglia 1-3, SB; Tigilau 1-2, BB.

Mount Vernon 9, Meridian 0

The Bulldogs scored five runs before the Trojans were able to get an at bat, and while Meridian played “catch-up” the entire game, the runs did not come. Junior Trey Alexander went 2-for-3 at the plate, and also pitched the complete game for the Trojans as he struck out five batters.

L: T. Alexander (2-1)

MER: T. Alexander 2-3, SB; J. Alexander 1-3.
