EDMONDS – In a continuation from last week’s game against Stanwood, the Ferndale rushing attack couldn’t be stopped. The aerial display was on point as well, as the Golden Eagles beat Meadowdale 56-15 in a WesCo 3A crossover game at Edmonds District Stadium on Friday night.
Everything went right for Ferndale, as they totaled 521 yards on offense, and gave up just 151 yards.
Senior half back Bryan Ebe scored on the first drive, and would continue to find the end zone throughout the game. He finished with 176 yards on 15 carries and four touchdowns.
The momentum really took hold just two minutes and fifteen seconds into the game. Already leading 7-0, the Mavericks lined up to punt. The snap was mishandled by the punter, and the ball was squirting in and out of the hands of players on both teams. Ferndale senior Jaden Brown scooped it up, and scored from nine yards out.
Senior quarterback Sequoyah Julius also got to show off his arm strength in the second quarter when he hit junior Jacob Broselle on a 60-yard pass right down the middle of the field. Broselle also was electric rushing the ball, with 126 yards on the ground one just nine carries.
Julius also hit senior wide receiver Watiko Leighton on a perfectly thrown pass on the deep post pattern.
Brown would continue the best game of his varsity career by intercepting two passes in the second half. The defense was also aided by defensive linemen Geirean Hatchett, Darius Washington and Brett Westford who combined for five sacks.
Ferndale (4-5) will now travel to #1 ranked Eastside Catholic (7-1) in a cross-over 3A matchup.
