SEATTLE – As the district tournament took place seven months ago, it gave enough time for those tennis players heading to state to train and be 100% prepared for what was in store. Taking that to heart was Bellingham junior Leo Kuhn who battled his way through the tournament to take home the singles state championship.
Sehome senior Harley Kaiser won his first match, but was defeated in the quarterfinals by the eventual second-place winner. Kaiser then won out and took 4th place.
It was the same fate for the Mariner doubles team of Christian Leon and Sean Lane. Their lone loss of the tournament took place against the eventual state champions, and they battled back to take fourth place.
