Squalicum 3, Columbia River 0

The Storm continued their dominance this season, and it started with an early goal when senior Jayden Bak sent a cross-pass towards the middle which was quickly headed in by sophomore Crew Johnson which gave Squalicum a 1-0 lead a little over 10 minutes into the action. The score remained 1-0 for much of the game, although the Storm maintained possession during the vast majority. Freshman Olivar Hoglin drove in a low shot that found the net to give Squalicum a 2-0 lead, and the Storm scored a late goal when senior Cody McCaulley punched one through for the cherry on top. Squalicum will play top-ranked Bainbridge for the 2A state championship at 2:45 today at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.

Bainbridge 2, Sehome 1

The Mariners nearly pulled off another upset in the 2A state tournament, this time against top-ranked Bainbridge, as a corner kick by Keaton Hayes just over six minutes into the contest was headed in by Kevin Schroeder which gave Sehome an early 1-0 advantage. The Spartans were able to tie it up late in the first half with a header off a cross, and then took the lead in the closing seconds of the first half with another goal. The Mariners were unable to tie it back up in the second half, and will face Columbia River this morning at 10:30 at Federal Way Memorial Stadium for 3rd place.

Meridian 1, Wahluke 0

The Trojans looked right at home, despite it being their first ever state semifinal game, and when senior Skyler Rowe spun through three Warrior defenders and passed off to sophomore Dakota Ng just a little more than 20 minutes into the game, it made school history once again. Ng followed up with an angled shot on goal which had just enough loft on it, as it sailed over the opposing goalkeeper’s reach and into the back left corner of the net. The Meridian defenders played strong in the second half to help secure the victory, and the Trojans will battle Vashon Island tonight at 5:00 for the 1A state championship at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.
