Lynden 10, Ferndale 7

The Lions weathered four homeruns from the Golden Eagles to remain undefeated on the season. Lynden scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and held onto the lead for the rest of the contest. Sophomore leadoff hitter Campbell DeJong hit a single, a triple, scored three runs and knocked in three runs to lead the Lynden offense. Ferndale’s homeruns came from Mallory Butenschoen, Jaycena Lajuan and Kaelin Blakely, who hit two.

Senior pitcher Ava Jeretzky allowed just three hits in her complete game effort as she picked up her sixth win of the season. The Mountaineer offense was just as strong, as it scored in every inning, and it was led by Jeretzky who had two hits and four runs batted in. Junior shortstop Annalee Cohn also had a pair of hits and sophomore Zaida Haynes doubled in a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

In an offensive outburst, the Pioneers outlasted the Seahawks to pick up their second win of the season. Junior Alayna Dykstra was a triple shy of the cycle and also knocked in four runs to lead Nooksack Valley’s hitting attack. Senior Lainey Kimball added three hits, including a homerun, along with four RBI’s and three runs scored. Sophomore pitcher Payton Bartl struck out six batters and also walked and scored four times in her five plate appearances.

Junior pitcher Kassidy VanSoest struck out 10 batters and didn’t allow a base hit as she picked up her 20th career varsity win. The Lyncs offense scored in every inning and was led by freshman Kortnee Tolsma who had three hits, including a double. Seniors Addie DeJong and Taryn Bos, and sophomore Taylor Craig, each knocked in three runs, while DeJong scored four runs herself. Keeley Meling scored the Storm run.
