After four scoreless innings, the Bayhawks broke out for two runs in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore Owen Hanstead and senior Owen Rasmussen each scored on fielder’s choices. Bellingham scored in the following inning when senior Joe Toof tripled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from sophomore Eli Goodbuffalo. The Pioneers threatened in the seventh when sophomores Landon Stauffer and Mathew Blake each walked to lead off the inning. Senior Jesse Tresselt then singled to score Stauffer, and after two strikeouts by Bellingham sophomore pitcher Kai Nelson, Pioneer junior Colby Martin singled home freshman Jayden Jones who was pinch running. Nelson plunked the next batter, but struck out the following batter to pick up his second save of the season. Rasmussen pitched the first six innings and struck out five batters to grab his fourth victory of the season. Nooksack Valley senior Kasey Newton allowed three hits and struck out nine, but took the loss in his complete game effort.
