Bellingham 4, Burlington-Edison 3

The Bayhawks scored a pair of runs in the each of the first two innings and held on to defeat the Tigers on the road. Burlington-Edison was able to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but sophomore Kai Nelson struck out the final batter to end the game with a runner on second base. Nelson also had two hits, including a triple, and scored two runs, while senior Jesse Harward had two hits and two runs batted in to lead the offense. Senior Jake Troost struck out eight batters over six innings of work while scattering five hits to pick up his second win of the season.

Lynden 7, Ferndale 0

Senior right-hander Lane Simonsen was dialed in all game as he struck out 12 batters over six innings, and he allowed just one hits and one walk, to win his second straight decision of the season. It was also the 20th victory in his varsity career. Senior Cooper Moore and sophomore Matthew Carroll each had a pair of hits to lead the offense, and Lynden also had two runs batted in from Carroll and junior catcher Tristan Thomas. The Golden Eagles got hits from seniors Camden Raymond, who hit a double down the right field line, and Colton Stenvers who had a pinch hit single.

After averaging over 20 runs per game over the first four games of the season, the powerful Trojans were held to just two as they suffered their first loss of the season. The Cougars used a three-run fourth inning to help put them over the top. Junior Tristan Wang hit a double in the bottom of the seventh to score senior Tyson Timmer. Wang then went to third on a ground out, and freshman Pierce Brzozowski was hit by a pitch, but a ground out followed to end the game. Wang led his team with two hits and two runs batted in. Freshman Nate Payne struck out eight batters and allowed just four hits but picked up the tough-luck loss.

Anacortes 5, Nooksack Valley 0

The Pioneers struggled offensively, and were only able to get four baserunners throughout the game against a very good Seahawk team on the road. Nooksack Valley got singles from Jesse Tresselt, Cole Bauman and Daemion Perez, and Colby Martin was hit by a pitch. Senior Eddy Cerda struck out four batters and went the distance on the mound.

Lynden Christian 13, Squalicum 3

The Lyncs stopped their two-game skid by picking up the home win over the Storm. Junior second baseman Austin Engels provided the offensive power once again as he knocked in four runs on a double and his second homerun of the season. Brody Bouwman also homered as he and Treyson Johnson each had a pair of runs batted in, while Eli Maberry and Eddie DeYoung each scored a pair of runs. Bouwman also pitched all five innings and struck out five. Squalicum’s lone hit was a double by senior Dylan Johnson.

For the second game in a row, senior first baseman Tyson Rightmire broke up a no-hitter, but that would be the lone hit on the night for the Mountaineers who have yet to earn their first win of the season.

Sehome 4, Blaine 3

Sophomore Hudson Neff scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Mariners were able to hold on to defeat the previously unbeaten Borderites at home. Junior Ryder McGrath struck out 11 batters over six-plus innings of work to pick up his second win of the season. He also scattered four hits. Sophomore Gunnar Tewit led Sehome with a pair of hits while also scoring a run and knocking in a run. Blaine got hits from Grady Swinburnson, Evan Yates, Alejandro Moser-Hernandez and Aaron Garza.
