It appeared that the defending 2A state champion Lions were going to clean house, after winning the first two sets 25-12 and 25-16, but the Lyncs rallied in the third set behind a raucous student section and won 25-23. The juice ran out in the fourth set for the home team as Lynden prevailed 25-15 to take the win.
Junior setter Izzie Stephan proved why she’s one of the best in the state as she dished out 45 assists, while leading her team with five aces and two blocks.
She spent most of the game setting up senior Finley Parcher who nailed home 30 kills.
Lynden also received 17 digs from senior Lexi Hermanutz, who also contributed with six kills and two aces, and junior Brooke McDonald added seven kills.
Lynden Christian was led by junior Tyra Dykstra who finished with 10 kills and nine digs.
She was aided by senior Ellie Pierce who had a team-high four aces, and senior Jocelyn Eshuis who finished with eight kills and three aces.
The Lycns were a bit shaken before the match even began when one of its key players, Sadie Meyer, went down with a knee injury before the game.

The Borderites fell at home against the 4A Marauders, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.
Senior Livia Weeda led Blaine with seven kills, three aces and a block, and sophomore Caitlin Phelps-McDonald had a team-high 10 digs.
Sophomore Alexis Sylvester had eight assists, while junior Madi Boyle added five kills and sophomore Rileyann Granstrom had seven digs and five assists.
