Blaine 7, Bellingham 6

In Blaine’s opener Bellingham gave the Borderites everything they could handle, but the boys in orange and black were able to get the final out in the seventh inning with the bases full of Bayhawks. Kieran Markusen picked up his first varsity save for Blaine, as he came on with the bases loaded in the sixth inning with just one out, but was able to get the final five outs of the contest. Senior right fielder Aiden Holley hit a two-run inside the park homerun in the bottom of the first inning, and junior third baseman Axel Puls reached base four times for the Borderites. Bellingham was led offensively by Landon Kerzman, Connor Anderson and Jake Troost who combined for seven hits.

Junior pitcher Elijah Knowlton had another dominating performance, striking out 13 while allowing just one hit over six innings of shutout work. Senior Connor Brueske pitched the final inning and struck out the side for Squalicum. First baseman Ben Hebert led the Storm offensively with three hits and a pair of runs, while Joziah McCloud had two hits, two runs batted in and scored two runs.

Lynden 8, Oak Harbor 3

With multiple lead changes throughout, the Lions took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning, and then added on in the sixth to walk away with the victory. Sophomore pitcher Lane Simonsen struck out eight batters over four innings of work, but it was Coston Parcher who earned the victory in relief. Senior shortstop Cade Slayton continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-2 with a homerun and a double. He also walked twice and scored four runs. His Whatcom County lead in multiple statistical categories were greatly extended on Tuesday night.

Ferndale 10, Lakewood 6

The Cougars jumped on the Golden Eagles early, getting off to a 5-0 lead after the second inning, but Ferndale scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game up, and ultimately took the victory after two extra innings. Senior Ryan Pelton got the victory in relief, going five innings and striking out six. Junior Dylan Strom started the game and struck out nine in four innings.  Junior infielder Jake Mason knocked in four runs, and junior center fielder Andrew James had a pair of hits.

In the pitching duel of the night, Staely Moore of the Seahawks got the best of Bryce Johnson. The Trojan righty struck out 14 and gave up just four hits and one run, but it was one run too many. Staely allowed just two hits, in a masterful shutout performance.

Burlington-Edison 10, Lynden Christian 3

A couple of big innings for the Tigers led the Burlington-Edison victory over the Lyncs. Lane Dykstra and Treven Blair each had a pair of hits for Lynden Christian, but errors at the worst time got the best of the Lyncs.

Mount Vernon 12, Mount Baker 3

The Mountaineers stayed with the Bulldogs through the first four innings, down 4-3 entering the fifth, but Mount Vernon poured it on from there. Mount Baker got base hits from Jesse Harward and Hayden Rosse, and Alex Maloley walked twice.

Sedro-Woolley 14, Nooksack Valley 6

In a game that featured 20 walks and seven hit batsmen, the bases were clogged most of the evening. The Cubs got on the board early and often against the Pioneers and never looked back. Nooksack Valley got base hits from outfielders Cory Olney and Eduardo Cerda, and designated hitter Kasey Newton walked three times and stole two bases.
