Meridian 6, Sehome 1

Meridian southpaw Jonah Aase picked up his second victory of the season as he went the distance against the Mariners. The freshman fireballer allowed just three hits and one run while striking out 10. Trojan freshman third baseman Jaeger Fyfe added a triple and a double, and senior center fielder Bryce Johnson added two RBI’s along with a triple of his own. Sehome senior first baseman Gavin Ortega led his team with two hits, including a double.

Nooksack Valley 2, Bellingham 1

Junior righty Bennett DeLange pitched a great game against Burlington-Edison last season, but he may have outdid himself on Thursday night against the Bayhawks. He allowed just one hit before a pitch count of 105 forced him off the mound with one out left to get in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was the second time in as many games that Bellingham lost with the tying run just 90 feet away. Five different players had base hits for the Pioneers who picked up their first win of the season.

Ferndale 11, Squalicum 3

Golden Eagle junior pitcher Jake Mason struck out 14 batters in five and two thirds innings, while picking up his second victory of the season. The Storm held a 3-0 advantage after three innings, but the powerful Ferndale offensive couldn’t be contained for long. Senior third baseman Elijah McCormick had three hits, three runs batted in and scored three runs, and sophomore Camden Raymond had two hits, scored two runs, and closed out the game on the mound.

The Lions kept their season rolling, and was on top of their game both offensively and defensively. Along with scoring 13 runs in the first five innings, junior pitcher Lincoln Van Diest dominated on the mound, pitching a one-hit shutout, and he still hasn’t allowed a run in his 12 innings of work during this short season.

Oak Harbor 4, Blaine 3

The Wildcats scored all four of their runs in the second inning, but Blaine pitcher Anden Holley was able to work out of it and pitch a whale of a game. The 6-foot-3 senior right-hander completed the game, striking out eight while walking just one and allowing three hits. The Borderites scored three runs in the final two innings, but ran out of magic at the end. Sophomore second baseman Grady Swinburson led with a pair of hits.

Anacortes 11, Mount Baker 1

An eight-run second inning by the Seahawks catapulted Anacortes past the Mountaineers at Joe Martin Field. Mount Baker’s Brady West, Alex Maloley and Brent Anderson all picked up hits.

Sedro-Woolley 18, Lynden Christian 1

The Cubs scored in every inning of the shortened game, and the Lyncs were hand-cuffed with five errors in the contest. Lynden Christian got base hits from Austin Engels, Isaac Paxton and Jonah Terpstra.
