The Pioneers made held an early lead when junior Easton Zylstra belted a double down the left field line to score Evan Neitling, and junior catcher Levi DeWebber’s line drive to left field scored Zylstra, but the Mariners’ powerful offense flexed its muscles in the fourth inning. Doubles from seniors Makana Grondin, Michael McLin and James Meader turned into three runs and Sehome never looked back after that. Senior Patrick Miksvosky pitched into the seventh inning, and fellow senior Trevor Seaholm closed the door, getting the final two outs of the game.

Lion senior pitcher Preston King continued to shine this year as the righty tossed a 2-hit shutout over the Golden Eagles. He also struck out eight batters, while getting on base a team-high three times. Senior catcher Carter Parcher and sophomore center fielder Connor White each had RBI hits for Lynden. After a strong two innings of work Ferndale junior Geirean Hatchett had some control issues, and the patient Lion hitters were able to draw seven bases on balls. Kobe Sandstrom and Ryan Pelton had base hits for Ferndale.

The Lyncs bats awoke, and they knocked around the Cougars for 11 hits and eight runs in a big win. Freshman Jamison Hintz had the best game of his young varsity career with a game-high three hits. He also scored a pair of runs and knocked in a run. Damyn Dykstra, Brevin Zylstra and Cole Moorlag each contributed with two hits, and sophomore third baseman Shale Whittern stole his 20th base of the season. Sophomore pitcher Luke Johnson was dominant on the mound, and picked up his fifth win of the season. He struck out eight batters in five innings while allowing just four hits and one run.

It was another tough-luck loss for hard throwing senior August Williams. It was the second time this season when he threw a one-hitter in a loss. He went the distance, striking out five and walking just three, but a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning was the difference. Senior outfielders Mitchell Sage and Spencer Lloyd each picked up two hits in their final game at Joe Martin Field.

Pursley

The Seahawks overpowered the youthful Red Raiders on Tuesday. Manny DePalma gave up just one hit in two innings for Bellingham, but suffered five walks. DePalma, Landon Kerzman, Nick Posey, Nathan Pursley and Everett Simpson each had a base hit for the Red Raiders.
