It’s been a great rivalry over the years, and the Trojans came away with the road win by defeating the Pioneers 25-23 and 28-26 in the first two sets. Nooksack Valley came back to take the third set 25-21, and Meridian closed it out with a 25-22 win.
Senior Sierra James had her timing down as she finished with a career-high eight blocks to lead the Trojan defense.
Junior Melanie Short had another huge game with 23 kills, 10 digs and three aces, all of which led Meridian. Senior Eden Bernardy had 13 kills, six digs, an ace and a block, and senior Amelia Koning had 10 digs.
Kendall Stacy added 23 assists, and Anna Nichols was also able to contribute with 13 assists.
Pioneer sophomore Finley Mitchell finished with 30 assists and 12 digs, as well as a team-high five aces, and senior Elizabeth DeLange had 14 kills, two blocks and four aces.
Freshman Allie Reynolds came through with 10 kills, and senior Karson Olney had a team-high 14 digs.
Kendall Juergens had eight kills and five digs, while Mallory Mason had eight digs, and the two combined for six aces.

The Mariners moved to 6-2 on the season after winning their second match in a row in a home sweep against the Seahawks.
Sehome was led by senior outside hitter Paige Flory who flew her way to 17 kills and 1.5 blocks.
Junior Radler Rosellison posted a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs, and senior Jackie Hurley also dug out 14.
Hadley Crovo had a team-high five aces, and Taylor Turrell finished with 31 assists, seven digs, two kills and two aces.
BELLINGHAM 3, BURLINGTON-EDISON 0
For the first time in 10 years, the Bayhawks defeated the Tigers, and they did it with a sweep on the road.
Sophomore Estelle Ochs led all over the court as she finished with 11 kills and 11 digs to go along with two aces.
Senior Bailey Burge finished with 21 digs and three aces, and junior Morgan Brennan added 17 assists and 11 digs.
Bellingham also received strong defense at the net from Amber Keay and A.K. Smith who each had a pair of blocks.
