The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, and defeated the Trojans 25-12 in the first set, but Meridian regained its composure and rallied to take the next three sets against the 3A visitors, 25-13, 25-8 and 25-17.
Junior outside hitter Melanie Short shrugged off an arm injury from the first set, which made her have to switch jerseys, and she finished with a game-high 20 kills to go with eight digs and four aces.
Senior outside hitter Eden Bernardy also had a tremendous overall game as she ended with 17 kills, seven digs and a team-high six aces. Fellow senior Amelia Koning had a team-high nine digs to go with her three aces, and junior Kendall Stacy guided the offense with 25 assists.
Junior Vivian Larsen also had a career-high three blocks.
FERNDALE 3, NOOKSACK VALLEY 0
The Golden Eagles kept their hot streak alive by winning their fourth straight match, this time on the road against the Pioneers.
Ferndale cruised to a pair of 25-7 victories in the first two sets before defeating Nooksack Valley 25-21 in the third and final set.
Junior Adelle Overson and senior Teia Dube each finished with with 12 kills to lead the Golden Eagles, and senior Svetlana Baydak wasn’t far behind with nine kills to go with her nine digs.
Senior Brooklyn Larrabee was 6-for-6 on her kill attempts, and she also finished with 31 assists, eight digs and two aces, while Carly Garner served up three aces, and Ashley Pietig added two aces and six digs.
The Pioneers were led by senior Elizabeth DeLange who finished with seven kills, six digs and two aces, all of which led her team.
Sophomore Kendall Jurgens also had two aces, and sophomore Finley Mitchell had 10 assists.
OAK HARBOR 3, BLAINE 0
The Borderites stayed with the 3A Wildcats on the first set before dropping it 25-19, but Oak Harbor got hot after that and took the next two sets 25-8 and 25-7.
Blaine was led by senior Livia Weeda who finished with three kills, six digs and two blocks.
Sophomore Rileyann Granstrom had a team-high eight digs to go with her two kills and two assists, and sophomore Caitlin Phelps-McDonald added seven digs.
Junior Madi Boyle had two of her team’s three aces, and sophomore Alexis Sylvester added five digs, six assists and an ace.
