The Storm kicked off their season on the right foot as they defeated the Wildcats in straight sets, 25-13, 25-12, 25-13.
Sophomore Avery Kettman led the balanced attack as she led her team with six aces and two blocks, to go along with her six kills and six digs.
Senior Bronwyn Jones had a team-high seven digs, and also served up three aces, and freshman Lola Froese racked up seven kills, six aces, three assists and an ace in her varsity debut.
Senior Alyssa Roselli handed out 20 assists, while also picking up four kills, three digs, an ace and a block, and senior Raegan Wheeler had a pair of aces as well.
MOUNT BAKER 3, SULTAN 0
The Mountaineers traveled south to open up their season, and they picked up the road win by defeating the Turks 25-16, 25-17 and 25-19.
Senior Rebeca Soares led the offense with nine kills, and she was followed closely behind by Emma Richardson and Lily LaVergne who each finished with eight kills.
Senior Lily Reeves finished with a team-high four aces, while Ella Horsmon and Payton Zender each had three. Zender also led Mount Baker with five digs, and Laila Porter dished out 22 assists.
NOOKSACK VALLEY 3, BURLINGTON-EDISON 0
The Pioneers totaled 18 aces, which helped lead them to a sweep at home against the Tigers 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17.
Sophomore Kendall Juergens, who mostly saw time last season because of her strong serving abilities, registered an amazing 10 aces to lead the attack from the back line.
Fellow sophomore Finley Mitchell added four aces to go with her 21 assists, five digs and three kills, and senior Elizabeth DeLange led the attack up front with 10 kills and a block.
Freshman Allie Reynolds had a great showing in her varsity debut, as she finished with seven kills, and junior Mallory Mason led her team with six digs.
