It was the Mountaineers’ first conference win in four years, and their first win against Blaine in five years as Mount Baker won 25-12, 25-17 and 25-10.
Senior Rebeca Soares was back in the lineup, and she was strong at the net as she led the Mounties with 11 kills and three blocks.
Freshman Ellie Galbraith was close behind with nine kills and two blocks, and junior Laila Porter added 26 assists and six digs.
The back line was well protected with the junior combo of Payton Zender and Teagen Huntley, as the two combined for 28 digs.
The Borderites were led by senior Livia Weeda who stood out in all phases of the game and she finished with five kills, 10 digs and two blocks.
Sophomore Caitlin Phelps-McDonald had a team-high 11 digs, and sophomore Rileyann Granstrom had seven assists. Blaine’s biggest run also came in the second set behind the strong serving of freshman Lexi Black, who finished with a team-high three aces.
LYNDEN 3, SQUALICUM 0
The Lions stayed undefeated on the season, and they also halted the Storm’s five-game winning streak after defeating Squalicum 25-15, 25-18 and 25-22.
Lynden’s strong defense, led by junior Hadley Lamp and her career-high 15 digs, led the Lions to the win. The defense was also aided at the net by junior Izzie Stephan and her three blocks to go with her 34 assists.
Senior Finley Parcher had a game-high 14 kills to go along with eight digs, while senior Lexi Hermanutz had nine kills and seven digs and senior Sarah McVie added eight kills.
The Storm were led by senior Bronwyn Jones who finished with 11 digs.
Sophomore Avery Kettman and freshman Lola Froese each had a team-high six kills, while Froese added eight digs and Kettman had a block.
Senior Alyssa Roselli finished with 14 assists and two aces, while Jones and Abigail Fife each also had a pair of aces.
FERNDALE 3, OAK HARBOR 0
The Golden Eagles defeated the Wildcats at home in straight sets 25-11, 25-18 and 25-22.
Senior Svetlana Baydak was on target all night as she finished with 20 kills (.500 hitting percentage), to go with her nine digs.
Senior Brooklyn Larrabee was a major factor once again as she had 32 assists, 10 digs and she was also 5-for-5 on her kill attempts.
Senior Teia Dube neared a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs, and senior Ashley Pietig had a team-high three aces.
