The last time that the Lions dropped a set was against the Mariners in last year’s 2A state tournament, and last night it was Lynden taking all three sets, 25-18, 25-8 and 25-18.
Senior Finley Parcher dominated offensively with her 18 kills, and junior Hadley Lamp had a team-high 12 digs to lead the defense, but it was the all-around game of senior Lexi Hermanutz that helped carry the Lions to victory as she posted nine kills, seven digs and two aces.
Junior Izzie Stephan added 23 assists to go with seven digs and four kills, while Kasey DeJong had six digs and Sarah McVie had a team-high three blocks.
Sehome was led by junior Taylor Turrell who finished with 14 digs, 12 assists and four aces, all of which led the Mariners.
Senior Jackie Hurley also picked up 14 digs, and Radler Rosellison ended with 10 digs as the Sehome defense made it tougher than most teams for Lynden to gain points.
Sophomore Cora Noskoff Sanchez led the Mariners with four kills.
SQUALICUM 3, LAKEWOOD 1
The Storm kept their hot streak alive, and after defeating the Cougars 25-19 and 25-7, Lakewood came back to take the fourth set 25-15 before Squalicum closed the door in the fourth set by winning 25-15.
Freshman Lola Froese continued her ascent in the Northwest Conference as one of the top outside hitters as she posted 15 kills, and she was closely followed by sophomore Avery Kettman who finished with 13 kills and a team-high two blocks.
Senior Bronwyn Jones led the Storm with 16 digs, and senior Raegan Wheeler was also extremely active in the back court with 11 digs.
Senior setter Alyssa Roselli totaled 34 assists to go with her five digs and three kills, and junior Abigail Fife served up a team-high three aces.
ANACORTES 3, BELLINGHAM 0
The Bayhawks fought hard on the road against the Seahawks and lost the first two sets 25-19 and 25-18, but Anacortes got on a roll in the third set and ended up winning 25-10 to end the match.
Senior Neybi Vasquez led Bellingham offensively with four kills to go along with her two aces and two blocks, and she was joined by sophomore outside hitter Estelle Ochs who notched four kills and nine digs.
Senior Bailey Burge led her team with 10 digs, and junior Amber Keay had a team-high three blocks.
Setters Morgan Brennan and Lulu Munro combined for 12 assists, and sophomore Audrey Riehl added two kills and two blocks.
