Lynden Christian 3, Blaine 1

The Borderites got on the board first when Dima Yuryev’s free kick was punched into the air by Lync goalie Gavin VanLoo, and was then struck into the back of the net by Wade Lottimer and Blaine held the lead at the half. Lynden Christian’s Grant Adams was able to tie it up at 1-1 with a goal almost 10 minutes into the second half, and Keenan Deming’s goal about 15 minutes later put the Lyncs out in front. Harvest Howell then scored a late goal in the final minutes of the game, which helped send Lynden Christian to the 1A state tournament, as the Borderites’ season came to a close. The Lyncs will take on University Prep at 6:00 tomorrow at King’s High School in the opening round of the 1A state tournament.

Sehome 2, Ellensburg 0

After finishing third in the 2A district tournament, the Mariners had to travel east to take on the Bulldogs for a spot in the 2A state tournament. Not only did they do that, but they took care of business as Colin Burns and Shaan Deol each scored a goal, and Bane Mitchell secured the clean sheet in goal. Sehome will face East Valley (Yakima) at 5:00 on Wednesday at Earl Barden Stadium in Yakima in the first round of the 2A state tournament.
