The Lions secured the win in the tightly contested district tournament opener against the Red Wolves. A second inning double by senior Kael Stapleton drove junior Jaydin Oaks home from first base, and Stapleton later scored in the fifth inning after an errant pickoff move to first base allowed him to go from first to third and he was then driven home by sophomore Matthew Carroll. Senior Lane Simonsen struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits in six innings to grab his seventh win of the season. The future Washington Husky now has 25 wins in his varsity career, and is seven strikeouts shy of number 300.
