  • Meridian 42, Friday Harbor 23

The Trojans began their season with a strong win on the road, and they were led by the 17 points of senior Allie Richter. She also led her team with seven steals and four assists, and was 8-of-18 from the field.

Meridian also received strong contribution from senior Savannah Storgaard who finished with eight points and four steals. The Trojans led 21-6 at halftime.

Junior point guard Brooklyn Fuller filled the stat sheet with five points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

 

  • Mount Baker 52, Bellingham 44

The Bayhawks jumped out to a 12-9 lead after the first quarter, but the Mountaineers outscored Bellingham in each of the next three quarters to come out with the road win.

Sophomore guard Natalie VanLiew led the way for Mount Baker with 19 points and four steals. Her back-to-back steals late in the second quarter, which both led to easy layups, was a huge momentum swing for the Mounties.

Bellingham sophomore Mary Lockhart was also strong in the second quarter, as she scored all 10 of her team’s points, and finished with a team-high 18 points.

Mount Baker freshman Violet Fox was all over the court with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals, but it was her perfect foul shooting that helped keep Baker in the lead as she finished 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.

The Bayhawks were also aided by junior Malia Hanks who had 12 points, and freshman Merritt Jensen who finished with 10 points.

 

  • Sehome 49, Mountlake Terrace 25

Strong defense on the road led the way for the Mariners who began their season in the win column.

Senior forward Natalie Brewer led the way with 15 points, and she was followed up by senior guard Madi Cooper who had 10 points.

Seniors Emmy Hart (eight points) and Kylie Watson (seven points) also contributed offensively throughout the contest.

 

  • Lake Stevens 65, Squalicum 36

It was a tough night on the road for the Storm who took on the 4A Vikings.

Lake Stevens proved to be too much, and held a 36-17 lead at halftime.

Squalicum was led by 13 points of senior Mari Binning. Junior Loretta Murphy-Kangas had seven points.
