Lynden 3, Squalicum 2

The fourth Whatcom County no-hitter was thrown last night, this time by Lynden junior Lane Simonsen. He struck out 16 batters in the contest, and walked just one batter in his complete game effort. River Langstraat knocked in two runs for the Lions, while Campbell Nolte and Lincoln VanDiest each supplied a pair of hits.

Ferndale 4, Meridian 1

In a tremendous pitching matchup, the Golden Eagles were finally able to get to Jonah Aase in the sixth inning by scoring all four of their runs. The Trojan ace was still able to strike out 10 batters, while Jake Mason also struck out 10 batters while allowing just two hits before Dylan Strom picked up the save by picking up the final four outs of the contest. Andrew James and Talan Bungard each knocked in two runs.

The Mariners jumped out to an early lead, and kept building to it throughout to pick up the conference win over the Mountaineers. Jacob Gillig pitched the first three innings to pick up his third victory of the year, Ryder McGrath pitched a flawless three innings in relief and Keegan Glennon closed it out in the seventh. Freshman second baseman Gunnar Tweit knocked in three runs on two hits, while senior catcher Carson Neff had two hits, including a double, and racked up three stolen bases. The Mounties were led offensively by Landen Hanstead who had two hits.

Borderite junior Diego Guttierez continued to quietly put together a great season on Tuesday as he got the complete game win, allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Senior shortstop Axel Puls reached base four times with a double, a single and a pair of walks. Evan Yates knocked in two runs, and Alejandro Moser-Hernandez had two base hits.

Mount Vernon 9, Lynden Christian 6

The Lyncs scored four runs in the final two innings, but it wasn’t enough to get past the mighty Bulldogs at home. Senior Lane Dykstra pitched well, but was hindered with four errors in the field which allowed seven unearned runs. Dykstra, along with sophomore second baseman Austin Engels, each led with two hits apiece.

Sedro-Woolley 11, Bellingham 6

The Bayhawks racked up 14 hits to the Cubs’ nine, but Sedro was able to push its base runners around to score more often. Senior catcher Ethan Brimble had three knocks and two runs batted in, while freshman Alden Scott scored two runs, walked twice and hit a double and a triple.

After a week of scoring a lot of runs, the Pioneers came up empty against the Wildcats. Oak Harbor got hot in the second innings, in which it scored eight runs. Kasey Newton and Colby Martin had the two lone hits for Nooksack Valley.
