Lynden 6, Cedarcrest 5

The Lions managed just five hits, but they were hit when they were needed, and three of them went for extra bases, including an RBI double by Matthew Carroll in the bottom of the fourth to give Lynden a 3-2 lead. The Red Wolves regained the lead in the following inning, but the Lions scored three more in the bottom of the fifth when Austin Tolsma grounded into a fielder’s choice which scored Lincoln VanDiest and Kael Stapleton. Carroll’s single two batters later scored Tolsma.

Ferndale 13, Lynnwood 10

You would almost figure that the Golden Eagles have ran out of runs for the week, but they still had a “baker’s dozen” in the bag, and they needed almost all of them in a slugfest against the Royals. Ferndale saw a 5-0 lead evaporate in the bottom of the fourth when Lynnwood scored eight runs, but the Golden Eagles clawed back for eight runs of their own in the following two innings. Jake Mason was just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, and drove in a game-high five runs. Andrew James picked up the win in relief, and blasted a home run of his own.

Blaine 4, Sehome 0

Borderite junior Kieran Markusen was on his game once again, this time throwing a 4-hit shutout against the Mariners. He struck out seven batters without walking anyone, and raised his record to 3-0 on the season. Leadoff hitter Mason Akre led the Blaine attack offensively with two hits, two runs and a run batted in. Sehome ace Jacob Gillig battled Marksuen for the first four innings, and struck out seven batters of his own, while senior catcher Carson Neff picked up a pair of hits, and stolen bases.

SEH: C. Neff 2-3, 2 SB; Gillig 1-3, SB; Sefrit 1-3.

Oak Harbor 9, Mount Baker 8

The Mountaineers fought extremely hard while trying to pick up their first win of the season, but it was another tough luck loss for the Baker boys. Junior Braven Nason tripled to lead off the seventh, down by two, and Tyson Rightmire knocked him in two batters later, but it wasn’t enough. Brady West knocked in two runs, while Nason and Daniel Washburn each scored a pair of runs to lead the Mounties.

MB: Hanstead 2-4, R, SB; West 2-3, 2 RBI, R, BB, SB; Nason 2-3, 3B, RBI, 2 R; Melland 2-4, RBI, R; Rightmire 1-3, RBI, R, BB, SB; D. Washburn 1-2, RBI, 2 R, HBP.

South Whidbey 15, Bellingham 11

In a game full of momentum swings, the Falcons raced out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, and the Bayhawks countered with 10 runs over the following three innings, but a 5-run bottom of the fifth for South Whidbey clinched the deal. Bellingham picked up a pair of hits from Alden Scott, Jesse Harward, Jake Troost and Owen Rasmussen.

L: Rasmussen (1-1)

Kingston 9, Nooksack Valley 2

Senior Bennett DeLange struck out four batters over four innings of work, but it wasn’t enough as the Pioneers couldn’t contain the offensive firepower of the Bucs. Mathew Blake scored both of the Nooksack Valley runs, as he was knocked in once by DeLange, and again by Kasey Newton.

L: DeLange (0-2)

NV: M. Blake 1-2, 2 R, BB, SB; DeLange 1-3, RBI.
