Jacob Gillig’s walk-off single to right-center field won the game in the bottom of the ninth for the Mariners. The hit scored Aiden Harwick-Koolen who led off the inning with a walk, Jacob Moore’s sacrifice bunt moved him to second, and the bases were then loaded when the next two batters were hit by a pitch, setting up Gillig’s heroics. Gillig also had a strong performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters in seven innings of work. Ben Sefrit picked up his first varsity victory in relief, working two innings without allowing a baserunner. Mountaineer sophomore Braven Nason matched Gillig pitch for pitch, going six and two-thirds innings, and striking out nine. He also mashed a double and a triple to help his own cause.
