Blaine 16, Lynden Christian 15 (Game 1)

Hagen

An 11-run fourth inning for the Borderites gave them a huge boost, and the Lyncs nearly came back after being down 16-7 after the top of the fifth inning, but Blaine held on for the one-run victory. Anika Hagen couldn’t be stopped at the plate, as she went 5-for-5 while knocking in four runs and scoring two more. Leadoff hitter Alexa Gutierrez also had a big day with four hits and three runs scored. Avery Snow smashed two doubles and had four runs batted in. Lauryn King and Makenna Wright each had three hits for the Borderites. Karsyn Postma led the Lyncs with four hits and four runs batted in.

Anika Hagen continued her hot bat, going 3-for-3, but it wasn’t enough as the Lyncs picked up the win in game two. Some defensive miscues in the first inning allowed Lynden Christian to put up six runs in the first inning. Jozie Gripp led the Lyncs with four runs batted in, while Karlie Korthuis and Annie Zylstra each scored a pair of runs. Freshman Emersyn Bakker had a pair of runs batted in and a double for the Borderites.

The Lions continued their buzz saw through the rest of the county by putting up 11 runs in the first inning, and riding the momentum throughout. It was the usual suspects as Riley Anderson and Haley Saur each had three hits and three runs batted in to lead the offensive attack. Alivia Miller also knocked in four runs, while Anderson, Claire DeVries and Ashlyn Alexander each scored three runs. Emma Ramerman struck out nine batters in four innings of work. Jordyn Thompson led the Golden Eagles with a pair of hits and a run batted in.

Emma Ramerman continued her dominance on the season, picking up her fourth win, while giving up just three hits in a shutout victory. She was helped offensively by Sammy Garcia, who hit her first homerun of the season. She also knocked in a team-high five runs, while Riley Anderson was 4-for-4, including her second triple of the day. Ashlyn Alexander knocked in three runs, while she and Anderson each scored three runs. Jordyn Thompson again went 2-for-2 for the Golden Eagles in the loss.

Zender

A walk by Rachel Zender in the top of the seventh inning, with the game tied at five, was crucial. An error in the field followed, allowing Zender to score, which opened up the inning, allowing the Mariners to score three runs and eventually win 8-5. Zender also had a single and a triple in the game to go along with two runs batted in. Lily Rasmussen picked up her first win of the season, while striking out six Mountaineers. Baker was led offensively by Kaitlyn Rosenburg and Taite Reardon who each had a pair of hits.

Freshman Ava Jeretzky powered the Mount Baker offense with her second homerun of the season, and she got the job done in the circle, holding the Mariners to just four hits and two runs. Taite Reardon and Ripley Reardon each also hit doubles for the Mountaineers while Ashlynn Cloninger led with two hits. Mariner senior Kaylee Wilson knocked in the only two runs for Sehome, while the Mariners also got hits from Lily Rasmussen, Haley Henderson and Nicole Brown.

Storm senior Gracie Nguyen was on top of her game, as she struck out 19 batters without walking anyone, while also going 2-for-2 with a homerun to help power her team to victory. Freshman Chayse Flick-Williams led Squaliucm with three hits, including a double. Nguyen had three runs batted in and senior Zoey Marshall knocked in the other run.

Gracie Nguyen slugged another homerun, but it wasn’t enough as the Cub offense erupted for 14 runs. The Storm also got hits from Chayse Flick-Williams, Regan Andersen, Logan Marshall and Riley Wolf. The Storm also committed a season-high eight errors in the field.
