Whatcom Preps Analysis:

What hasn’t been said about Kortlever? He’s headed to college to play football, but in no way does it overshadow his baseball abilities. He’s a major threat at the plate, on the bases and in the field. Great power, tremendous speed, tremendous work ethic and zero ego. He led his team in doubles and stolen bases.

Coach’s Comment:

“I think Jaxon is one of the best all around athletes in the county, his athleticism and IQ (Valedictorian) allow him to play at a very high level. I didn’t even have to put the steal sign on with Jax, everyone at the field knew he was stealing and it was probably happening within the first three pitches but you still couldn’t throw him out. He finished the season with 21 stolen bases, and really didn’t get going at the plate until the last 10 games. In his last 10 games Jaxon batted .415 with 6 doubles. Jax always found a way to first base; he was willing to wear pitches and his speed put a ton of pressure on defenses to get rid of the baseball. He leaves some big shoes to be filled for next season.”
