On this day in Whatcom County football history:

1974: A fresh-faced Bob Ames picked up the first varsity win of his legendary, Hall of Fame career, with a 13-0 victory over Blaine at home.

1985: Ferndale senior quarterback Doug Pederson set a school record by passing for 216 yards in a 24-6 win over Sedro Woolley. Pederson’s school record stood for seven years.

1991: Ferndale senior tight end Rich Hill set a school record by catching eight passes in a 7-3 loss to Mount Vernon. Hill’s record was short-lived, as the pass-happy Golden Eagles of the early 90’s aired it out a week later, with another receiver reaping the benefits.
