On this day in Whatcom County football history:

1977: Blaine senior running back Dave Halldorson set a Whatcom County record by carrying the ball 44 times in a 28-0 win over Lynden Christian. He ran for 246 yards in the game, and his Whatcom County record stood for 34 years.

1997: Ferndale sophomore kicker Michael Koenen set a school record by booting eight extra points in a 62-8 win over Burlington-Edison. His school record has been tied, but 23 years later, it still hasn’t been broken.

2003: Lynden Christian senior quarterback Zach Parsons set a school record by throwing five touchdown passes in a 49-28 win over Sultan. His school record still stands, 17 years later.
