After a scoreless first half, the Borderites were able to get second half goals from freshman Violet Tuttle and senior Nevaeh Zaddack to secure the home win to open up the season.

 

  • Mount Baker 3, Orcas Island 0

The Mountaineers got off to a great start to the season as Luelle Tobin scored a pair of goals to lead the offensive attack. Mount Baker also received a goal from Maci Kammenga, who also assisted on an earlier goal.

 

  • Lynden Christian 3, Lynden 1

The Lyncs showed that they are for real, as they knocked off the crosstown rival Lions for the first time in eight years. Lynden got on the board first when Lena VanderMey scored in the first half, but the second half belonged to the Lyncs as Hattie Hendricks and Caitlin Kok each scored on a penalty kicks, and Addi Molendyk scored the final goal of the game on an assist from Kaelyn Hinton. Lynden Christian’s Grace Russell also had a huge save as she sprinted to negate the ball from crossing the line in the second half.

 

  • Nooksack Valley 1, Bear Creek 0

When Gretchen Elmendorf found Peyton Duque for a goal, that was all that was needed for the Pioneers who edged the powerhouse Grizzlies. Bear Creek finished in third place in last year’s 1A state tournament.

 

  • Royal 4, Meridian 0

The Trojans were unable to get anything going against the Knights, but kept it close for most of the game. Royal was able to score two late goals to but the match out of reach.
