2026 Fastpitch Roundup for Tuesday – May 12th

The Lions captured the 2A district championship for the second year in a row.

2A District Tournament:

Lynden 2, Burlington-Edison 1

Archbishop Murphy 12, Sehome 2

3A District Tournament:

Shorewood 13, Ferndale 3

Meadowdale 3, Ferndale 1

Lynden 2, Burlington-Edison 1

The Lions came into the 2A district championship game on an eight-game winning streak, with their last loss being against the Tigers. With a state berth already wrapped up, this was about seeding and the championship trophy, and Lynden was able to push the first run across when junior leadoff hitter Sarah McVie opened the game with a bunt single. She then stole second base, third base and eventually scored on an error. Knowing that runs would be a premium, the Lions tried to take advantage on the basepaths in any way possible, and senior shortstop Campbell DeJong followed McVie’s example in the top of the fourth when she led off the inning with a single, stole second base, stole third base and then scored on an error. From there, it was the Callie Ramerman show as she went the distance allowing just one hit and striking out 12 to pick up her 18th win of the season. Lynden will await its seed for the 2A state tournament which will be held in Selah on May 22nd and 23rd.

W: Ramerman (18-4)

The Mariners scored twice in the top of the fourth inning when Mariah Anderson and Madeleine Hutchinson each scored on back-to-back groundouts, but they weren’t able to keep the Wildcats off the basepaths. Jordan Walker and Sarah Kruzich each had a base hit, and Kruzich struck out three batters over four innings. Sehome’s season ended with a record of 4-13.

L: Kruzich (4-10)

SEH: Walker 1-2, R; Kruzich 1-2.

Shorewood 13, Ferndale 3

The Golden Eagles traded runs in each of the first two innings with the Stormrays, but Shorewood was able to add on in every inning that followed and knock Ferndale into the consolation round of the 3A district tournament. Freshman Nyla Kanda had a pair of hits, and junior Maddy Slevin doubled and walked twice to lead the offense. Kanda and Charlotte Simon combined in the circle to strike out six batters.

In a loser-out contest, the Golden Eagles came up just short. They did strike first when senior Hannah Swan singled, stole second base and then scored on a double off the bat of Maddy Slevin, but that would be the lone run of the game for Ferndale. The season came to a close for the Golden Eagles with a record of 12-7.
