Needing a win to keep their season alive, the Trojans went on the road and accomplished just that in the opening round of the 1A district playoffs. A single by Kayson Culp scored Landon Rowley to open the scoring in the second inning, and Trey Alexander scored on a single by Pierce Brzozowski in the following inning. Meridian broke it wide open in the fourth inning when Trevyn Crabtree stole home, and it was quickly followed up by Lincoln Brzozowski knocking in Culp and Pierce Brzozowski once again singling in Alexander. The Trojans were also efficient with their pitching as Alexander struck out six batters in nearly four innings of work to get the win, but he also did it in under 50 pitches, which will allow him to pitch again on Saturday during the tournament. Pierce Brzozowski pitched the final three-plus innings to get the save, and he also stayed under 50 pitches. Meridian will now face Cedar Park Christian at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Joe Martin Stadium.
