In an unusual tune-up game for both squads, before heading into their respective state tournaments on Saturday, both teams were able to see some live pitching, pitching to live batting, get a lot of players in, and play a game they love. The Mariners were able to capture a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Hudson Neff scored on a passed ball, and a groundout scored Gunnar Tweit. The Lyncs got on the board in the fourth when Vance Elton’s single to right field scored Trey Johnson who had previously doubled. Neff came around to score again in the fifth on a groundout, and Sehome tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth when Connor Chin stole home, and Tyson Goodman scored on a single from Neff. Lynden Christian scored the final run of the game when Iggy Frost singled in Logan Davis in the seventh inning. Sehome will traveling east to take on W.F. West in the first round of the 2A state tournament at 1:00 on Saturday at Shadle Park High School, and Lynden Christian will battle Naches Valley at 1:00 on Saturday at Joe Martin Stadium to kick off the 1A state tournament.
