Ferndale 11, Meridian 8

The Golden Eagles held an early 3-1 lead after two innings, but the Trojans powered home four runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead. Ferndale then recaptured the lead in the following inning and battled hard to hold Meridian off for the rest of the game. Golden Eagle senior Mallory Butenschoen homered, drove in three runs, struck out 13 batters and got the win on her birthday, and her battery mate Kaelin Blakely had another huge game with a double and her Whatcom County-leading 13th homerun of the season. Madeline Slevin also homered for Ferndale. The Trojans were led offensively by Lorelai Margeson who had four hits, drove in four runs and hit a homerun. Maddy Ritter also hit a home run for the Trojans.

Lynden 15, Squalicum 2

The Lions began the game by getting the first three runners on and senior Childrey DeJong cleared the bases with one swing. Her grand slam was just the beginning of the offensive output by Lynden which scored in each of the first four innings. DeJong finished the game with seven runs batted in and was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Senior Trinity Andrew homered and drove in three runs, and junior Melanie Anderson scored three runs, singled, tripled, drove in a run, walked twice and stole a base. The Storm received another great game from freshman Addy Hauber who reached base twice, stole three bases and scored both of her team’s runs.
