THE FEATURED FOUR

Gavin Ortega – Senior – Offensive Line/Defensive Line

Last season’s “Lineman of the Year”, Ortega returns has a dominant figure on both sides of the ball. Great size and athletic ability as an offensive tackle, and last season he averaged more tackles per game than any other player in Whatcom County. Pretty impressive when that comes from a down-lineman in a 3-4 defense.

Max Malo – Junior – Wide Receiver/Safety

He burst out onto the scene early last season with a miraculous touchdown catch during Sehome’s opening drive of the season. He never looked back after that. A dynamic playmaker on offense, while playing multiple positions on defense. He will be locked in at safety this season, keeping the Malo tradition alive. His ball-hawking ability could turn the Sehome defense into instant offense.

Tommy Funk – Junior – Running Back/Outside Linebacker

Another pleasant surprise last season, as one of the top outside linebackers in the county. An All-County pick last season as a sophomore, and this season he will show everyone what he can do as the main running back.

Hayden Huntley – Senior – Offensive Line/Inside Linebacker

Already built like a college-sized linebacker, Huntley has all the tools to make numerous plays between the tackles, as he has done since his sophomore season. He’s also another standout offensive lineman for Coach Beason to run behind.

Who will be Sehome’s break-out player?

Banning Dirks – Junior – Tight End/Linebacker

A tremendously versatile player that I’ve kept my eye on for a while. He has played running back, offensive line, linebacker, and this season he will play tight end. A good athlete that is one of the smartest players on the team. He could end up having a huge season on both sides of the ball.
