Anderson

It took a while for the Lion offense to explode. In fact, it was a 5-1 game heading into the seventh inning, but the Lynden bats came alive in the final stanza. In fact, how about an 8-RBI game for Riley Anderson? This coming on the heels of a 9-RBI performance in her last game. She had two doubles, and added her third grand slam of the season. Shortstop Haley Saur and center fielder Ashlyn Alexander each had four hits and scored four runs. Piper Nissen led the Borderites offensively with two hits, including a double.

Perfection. It’s not easy, but Lynden pitcher Claire DeVries made it look that way. She threw a four-inning perfect game. 12 batters up, 12 batters down. The Lions remain undefeated, and scored in every inning in game two of the double header. DeVries also had three hits, as did Haley Saur and Ashlyn Alexander. Saur also knocked in a team-high five runs.

Storm senior pitcher Gracie Nguyen averaged more than two strikeouts per inning, and finished with 15 on the game in the two-hit complete game victory. She also led offensively with two hits, a run scored and a run batted in. Freshman shortstop Chayse Flick-Williams scored a pair of runs, while left fielder Gabby Recio and catcher Regan Andersen each added two hits. The Trojans got hits from freshman Katie Prenamen and junior Malaysia Smith.

A six-run fourth inning, which was highlighted by a two-run homerun by Jasmine Meyer, game the Storm plenty of offense to walk away with their second victory of the evening. Chayse Flick-Williams also went 4-for-4 with a double and Zoey Marshall hit two doubles and scored three runs. Gabby Recio got her first victory of the season, and also contributed with a pair of hits, including a triple.

It was a rough game one against the Cubs for the Mariners, as Sehome was unable to get a hit in the loss. Gracie Haugness and Kaylee Wilson were each able to reach base on an error, and both were able to steal a base as well. Wilson also had a sacrifice in the contest.

Sedro Woolley 27, Sehome 16 (Game 2)

Henderson

In a game that saw 44 runs scored, the Mariners were still having to look for their first victory of the season by the end of the night. Sehome scored four runs in the first inning, and even held a 7-2 lead halfway through the third inning, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Molly Burfeind knocked in a team-high five runs, and the patience and speed of Haley Henderson showed as she walked four times and scored three runs. The Mariners also had multi-hit games from Lily Rasmussen, Kaylee Wilson and Gracie Haugness.
