SQUALICUM (3-1) AT MEADOWDALE (2-2)

Time: 5 PM Friday

Site: Edmonds District Stadium

When Squalicum has the ball: The Storm will continue to pound the rock behind its massive offensive line. Spencer Lloyd is a bruising runner up the middle that will always get a few extra yards after contact. He also has the speed to break it outside when needed. Running back Branden Powers could be back this week, and Devante Powell and Dedrick Mitchell are tremendous athletes on the outside. Squalicum is on a roll right now.

When Meadowdale has the ball: The Mavericks will have to contend with the ball-hawking defenders of the Storm. Squalicum intercepted four passes last week, and returned two of them for touchdowns. Coach Nick Lucey has a knack of getting scores from his defensive units over the years. Collin McEachran flies around the field from his linebacker position, much like Adam Sandler’s character from “The Waterboy”, Bobby Boucher. (Yes, that’s how it is spelled)

Hey, I remember watching his dad play: Squalicum sophomore quarterback Mason Binning has impressed when coming in as needed. His big arm comes to no surprise as his dad Ryan Binning was a tremendous 2-year starting quarterback for Sehome in the mid-90’s. As a junior, he helped lead the Mariners to an undefeated league championship. He finished his career with 1787 passing yards and 21 touchdowns to only six interceptions.
