FERNDALE (1-3) AT OAK HARBOR (4-0)

Time: 7 PM Friday

Site: Wildcat Memorial Stadium

When Ferndale has the ball: The Golden Eagles have been successful moving the ball on the ground as of late, and you can expect more of the same. Gader Fox is a load to bring down, and Bryan Ebe has moves on top of moves to go along with great speed. Tight end Tyler Hoffmaster has the ability to get open and wide receiver Taylor Lupo has shown to be the go-to guy as a wide receiver. If Jacob Broselle is healthy, he could bring a big boost to the run game as well.

When Oak Harbor has the ball: Oak Harbor is a great team, and Ferndale will have to be extraordinary to stop them. The Golden Eagles have the defenders to play a great game. Defensive linemen Darius Washington, Geirean Hatchett and Brett Westford are extremely active, and can shed blocks extremely well. Middle linebacker Uriah Guillory has a fantastic motor, and he’s all over the field. The secondary is instinctive and fast. Watiko Leighton leads that group. As a group, they are one of the most sure-tackling units in Whatcom County.

Hey, I remember watching his dad play: Ferndale senior Brett Westford has really come on this year as a defensive end. It should be no surprise, knowing that is dad Bo Westford was one of the best defensive ends that played for the Golden Eagles in the 80’s. He was named All-League 1st Team as a senior, while leading his team all the way to the Kibbie Dome in the state playoffs. He also was named All-League 1st Team as a senior, and scored two defensive touchdowns as a junior.
