Trojans Secure #2 Seed Going Into District Play

BELLINGHAM – Meridian made quick work of Lakewood in three sets, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-12, to give the Trojans the second seed in the 1A district playoffs.

Meridian celebrated it’s two seniors, Makenzie Flake and Ella Carpenter, on senior night, and Flake responded with a team-high nine kills to go with seven digs and an ace.

Sophomore Finnley Claeys added eight kills, 14 digs and two aces, and fellow sophomore Malaysia Smith had 27 assists and nine digs. Junior Brynn Neal had a strong serving night with four aces to go along with her team-high 16 digs.

The Trojans (10-5) will begin postseason play on Saturday when they face Cedar Park Christian (10-6) at 1 PM as King’s High School.
