Kade Eldridge picks up a chunk of his 80 yards on the ground.

LYNDEN – Before the season started, Lynden Christian coach Dan Kaemingk told me that he had a “yet” team. It meant that whatever his team was going to be early on in the season, it wasn’t what his team was going to be yet. As usual, Coach K was right on point.

Hintz

After losing the first two games of the season to very strong 2A opponents, the Lyncs have won five in a row, including a 41-0 drubbing over East Valley of Spokane on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights had a nine-yard run on their first play from scrimmage, and that would end up being their longest play of the game as the Lynden Christian defense flexed it’s muscle throughout the entire contest.

East Valley had plenty of chances early on as the Lyncs lost fumbles three times in their own territory in the first quarter alone. The Knights were turned over on downs on two of those possessions, and on the third possession it was sophomore linebacker Kayden Stuit who ripped the ball out of the opponent’s hands. As the ball flung into the air, senior safety Jamison Hintz snatched it away, tucked it, and ran 85 yards for the first score of the game.

There were few LC mistakes after the first quarter.

Colwell

Quarterback Will Colwell scored two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, and he connected on a touchdown pass with Hintz in the third quarter. The 6-foot-4 senior finished with a team-high 93 yards rushing on 12 carries, while also completing 6-of-9 passes for 101 yards.

240-pound tailback Kade Eldridge also got into the end zone for the fifth time this season, and he ran for 80 yards on 13 carries.

Stuit led the Lyncs with seven tackles, while Hintz added six tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass broken up, and senior linebacker Matthew Burrows registered six tackles and two tackles for loss.

The Lyncs (5-2) will complete the regular season on Thursday when they host Meridian (4-4) at 7:00.
